  Wujin is located in the centre of Yangtze Delta with a total area of 1246.6 Km2 and population of 975 thousand, adjacent to Wuxi, Suzhou, Shanghai to the east and bordering Zhenjiang, Nanjing to the west, near Yangtze River in North and close to Taihu Lake in South, abundant in natural resources and convenient in transportation, is one of the places where the Economic Mode of South Jiangsu was originated.

  In terms of comprehensive economic strength, Wujin is one of the top 10 counties (or cities, or district) in China, It has been given the honorary title of the “2nd Largest County/City of China”, one of the “Top 10 Richest Counties”, one of the “Star County/City of China”, one of the “First Batch of Well-off Counties/Cities of China”, International Garden City, a model district for Ecological development and so on. In 2009, Wujin reported a GDP of RMB110 billion, government financial revenue reached RMB 25.55 billion, industrial output reaches 290 billion, and industrial products sales revenue reached RMB 28.28 billion. The registered foreign capital got to 1.25 billion USD and the actual to-the-account capital reached 850 million USD .Wujin is keeping its advanced economy capability in China. Wujin get the reward of UN "Special Award of Best Living Environment", 1st of "the Most Caring Livelihood Counties (cities, districts)", 1st of "Top 100 Small & Medium-Sized Cities with the Most Investment Potentcial Cities", 5th of "Top 100 of National Scientific Devlopment of Small and Medium-Sized Cities" and etc.

  As a historic city, a remarkable place producing outstanding people, pregnant with beauty and productive of talent, Wujin is the birthplace of ancient Wu-Yue civilization. In history, such a batch of influential art genres as “Yanghu literary genre”, “Nantian painting genre” and “Changzhou poetry genre” came into being, and such numbers of celebrities and scholars as Yun Nantian, Liu Haisu emerged here。Yancheng Relic is the best preserved on ground relic from Spring and Autumn Dynasty. Its characteristic layout with “3 city walls and 3 moats” is the only one in China, which is in the list of Prearranged World Culture Heritage.
